Bit of Whimsy

Tonight I was playing around with soap bubbles and a macro lens. I was moving the camera and lighting into different positions This one was my favorite because it reminded me of a planet out in space.I guess that is in keeping with my miniature planet theme of late.Soap bubbles look pretty cool really close up. God's light and love to all, chris

Swans in Silhouette at Sunset

Today I didn't even pick up my camera. It was a lazy day around the house. We made a great lunch and I edited some images from my trip to Klamath NWR. The swans are still my favorite and I love the ones of them flying silhouetted in the sunset. God's blessings to all, chris

Planet Willits

Sometimes you run across something that is so cool looking that you just want to try it. Photographer Gavin Hoey has a tutorial for creating miniature planets. I drove to downtown Willits and photographed our local high school. It was fun trying something new and I love the final result. God bless, chris

Went Off Skiing

I love to ski and I rarely go due to the distance and the cost involved. I grew up in a skiing family in Colorado so it is in my blood. Over the end of the three day weekend we drove up to South Shore and skied one day at Sierra at Tahoe. That's Sierra Ski Ranch for any old time skiers out there. The weather was perfect and the snow was a bit crusty. We had blast flying down the slopes! Today I'm a bit sore but it was worth it.We met up with my cousin Robyn Gralicer and her boyfriend Kevin Krueckemeier. They ski there a lot so they were great tour guides and instructors. We had a great time walking around south shore and we topped it off with a nice dinner. When we left Tahoe in the morning the next day in the early afternoon there was no sense of the the incoming storm that was supposed to have hit the night before. We stopped at the top of Echo Summit and played in the snow. Soon after we headed down the pass and just past Camp Sacramento we ran into the full brunt of the storm.Snow began sticking and soon there was almost two inches of snow on the roadway. Luckily for us a snow plow pulled out onto the highway in front of us and we were able to follow it.Four wheel drive was needed and soon we began to see cars stuck off of the road without chains and fender benders here and there. Eventually we crawled to lowlands and the weather was clearing. Traffic headed the other way was backed up for miles and miles. I'm looking forward to going again soon. God bless and safe trips, chris

Bald Eagles at Klamath National Wildlife Refuge

Each winter millions of waterfowl migrate into the Klamath Basin which straddles the border between Southern Oregon and Northern California. Along with them come hundreds of Bald Eagles looking for a meal from waterfowl that are sick, weak or unwary. When you drive around the refuges you will see eagles sitting on the ice waiting for an opportunistic meal. Eagles can also can also be found perched on telephone poles, refuge signs and some of the few cottonwood or willow trees that dot the refuge.Once in awhile they will make a flight out over the refuge driving up huge flocks of ducks or geese before them. It is an amazing sight to witness. Visit the refuges and take a look or just enjoy my images from earlier this week. Please share my blog with others. Thanks. God's blessings to all, chris

Tundra Swans

I have been editing images until my neck hurts. The hardest thing about today's photoblog was in choosing which swan images to use from my trip earlier this week to the Klamath Basin in Northern California and Southern Oregon. I had way too many favorite images. I showed them to Lenore and she responded. "They are all good!". So here are some of my favorites. Please enjoy these Tundra Swans and tell others about my photoblog. God's love and blessings to all, chris
