Birds and the Bees
I spent yesterday afternoon and part of today playing with the hummingbirds in my backyard. I have quite a few Anna's and a few Rufous hummingbirds. The honey bees were overwhelming though. There were literally hundreds of them mobbing the feeders for the sugar. When I would move a flower or a feeder I had to walk through bees to do it. It was a little bit unsettling as I'm not exactly the beekeeping type.Luckily all they care about is sugar and not about me! Here are a few images of the hummers. I had a great time and I think the hummers did too.
Enjoy and God bless,
chris
Great pictures really am impressed. Only really see the bees on two of your picture but i feel that add to it. Great stuff!!
ReplyDeleteHey Clive,I'm glad you like them. I added a few bee images from the feeders this morning to give it more of a "B" feel.

DeleteHi, Chris,
ReplyDeleteThis is Ethel Van Zanten and I really like your photos of the hummingbirds taking
pollen from flowers. Were these photos taken through a window? I don't think that
you would be able to get very close if it was in the same space as the hummingbird.
These are photos to treasure. I have a blog too but mine is mainly a personal development
blog. You may view it at tools to success.blogspot.com
I look forward to your comment.
Take care,
Ethel
Hi Ethel, The humming birds in my backyard are pretty habitualized to having people around and will often fly quite close to you if you don't move too quickly. Even so I sometimes use a portable hide or photoblind when I am photographing them.
DeleteThat is very beautiful. I love your blog
