Bald Eagles at Klamath National Wildlife Refuge

Each winter millions of waterfowl migrate into the Klamath Basin which straddles the border between Southern Oregon and Northern California. Along with them come hundreds of Bald Eagles looking for a meal from waterfowl that are sick, weak or unwary.When you drive around the refuges you will see eagles sitting on the ice waiting for an opportunistic meal. Eagles can also can also be found perched on telephone poles,refuge signs and some of the few cottonwood or willow trees that dot the refuge.Once in awhile they will make a flight out over the refuge driving up huge flocks of ducks or geese before them.
