Macro or the Gray Fox Won
This morning I got outfoxed by the Gray Fox. I went out to the ranch and sat in the new blind I put up to photograph it. Twice it came less than twenty feet from the photoblind. The first time I was totally unprepared and my movements in the blind startled it. The fox ran off up the hill. Wow, does that sound familiar? The second time it came from the side of the photoblind. All I could do was watch it as any attempt to move the camera over to the side viewing port would have scared it off. I had to be content to photograph it from a distance. Still it was really cool to watch.I'm determined to get a nice close up of it.
When I got home today there was a package waiting for me. I was like a little kid at Christmas as I tore the package open and went into the back yard to try out my new 100 mm macro lens to replace the one that took a tumble off of my tripod last week.
I really liked how well it works. My favorite image was the one of the honeybee.
God's precious love and blessings to all,
chris

Thank you Agnes Rogowska. The fox is still staying around much to both my delight and frustration. I have to be patient and hopefully another opportunity will surface to photograph it again.
DeleteWell done Chris - I like your style.Nature sure is the best subject!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much Ropat. I really do love photographing nature.
DeleteGlad you were able to replace the macro so soon, and you've put it to good use. The bee shot is quite good with excellent DOF and nice soft lighting. The dew drops are nice too. I've been meaning to try that type of shot myself after seeing some stunning displays from another photog friend of mine.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much Brian. I was really lucky to find a used on on a well known auction site that bidding was just about to close on with very few bidders.I hope you get some really nice water drop images. I was thinking i might attempt a few more myself!
DeleteAll great shots, I like the drops of water, its like a little world inside each one.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much Pat O'Driscoll!. They are indeed little worlds. They are fascinating to look at.
DeleteWonderfull macros !!!!
ReplyDeletethank you very much, Maria D Roque. Macro photography shows us such a cool perspective of the almost unseen worlds around us.
DeleteI like the shot you did get of the fox. From what I've heard they watch you like a hawk until they realize you aren't going to hurt them and then they accept you as part of the landscape (or they pack up and move lol). I'm sure with your gentle patience it will be the acceptance.
ReplyDeleteThank you Rambling Retiree I'm glad that you liked it. At this point I still keep hearing the fox near my photoblind. It is just going to be a matter of time before i find it out in the open again.
DeleteI love the last shot of the bee! Your attempts to take a closer shot of the fox reminds me of how the Little Prince (by Antoine D'Saint Exupery) tamed the fox. Maybe Rambling Retiree is right and patience will win the day eventually. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you MCat I'm really glad you liked my favorite image from the day.Time will tell. Patience is the watchword of the day!
DeleteGreat macros! And I like the shot of the fox next to the tree with the grasses. It isn't as close as you wanted, I know, but it's an awesome photo!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, Marie. I'm really enjoying my new macro lens. It's so much sharper than my last one. I'm actually blessed the old one took a fall and forced me to buy a new one!
DeleteSuch fine work you do, here and in the many other examples of your creativity. How interesting to see your world (and mine) through your eyes—your attention to detail(s), what you choose to focus on, the effort it takes to see, to catch glimpses, to share these with others. Namaste.
