At the Back Door
Stepping out the back door onto the deck early this morning I spotted a movement out of the corner of my eye. Turning toward the side of the house I found a Mormon Cricket - (Anabrus simplex) on the siding of the house. A female one to be exact. You can tell that it is a female by the long ovipositor on her back end for laying eggs deep down into the soil. I ran back into the house and grabbed a jar and popped her into it. Later this morning I photographed her on a leaf before letting her go into the forest.
God's light and love to all,
chris
