Yummy Berries

The Pyracantha Berries I put next to my water set up to add some color for photographing birds have been a hit. The birds and squirrels have been loving eating them. Here is my favorite from yesterday afternoon of a Vireo eating one of the berries. Have a great weekend. God's blessings to all, chris Image created with a Canon 7D and a Canon 100-400 IS lens.

  1. Chris - Just wanted to tell you that I discovered your book at my local library and have since purchased a copy for myself. It is the BEST bird photography book I have seen...with loads of great advice! Love your DIY bent and your great images which illustrate effective ways of attracting and photography birds in your yard without breaking the bank! I have a garage window that I have used as a photo blind for a year now, and though I have gotten some great images from it, your book has given me so many ideas on ways to improve my success ratio! I am on Instagram (jklewis52) and Flickr (Jan Lewis - jklewis4) if you care to see some of my images.

    2. I am really impressed, Jan. You have many fantastic bird images. I showed some to Lenore and she loved them as well. Wow, keep up the excellent work.

  3. I have a question about coffee can poles that you can use to clip things to.
Are you using cement/quicrete to weight them and secure the pole in place or something else?
Just curious why the pole is always all the way over against the edge of the can, rather than in the center.
    Thanks for your help.

    1. Hi Jan, Good question. Yes it is concrete. I put the pole onto the inside edge of the can and hold it in place by drilling in a couple of wood screws through the can into the wood. Then I fill it with concrete. They are useful for holding all sorts of things. I clamp stuff to them. I drill holes into the poles to hold perches and feeders. They are extremely useful.

  4. Ahhh.. the wood screws are the missing part! My husband did one today - but didn't screw it. Not sure if it is too late to add that. I will have him make me a couple so I will know for the next one

  5. Jan, one of the advantages of having the pole on the side of the can is that two supporting poles with cans can be clamped together if you put them side by side for more support of larger items.
