Christmas Time in Nyhavn

The first stop on our short three city tour of Scandinavia was Copenhagen. One of the must see stops in Copenhagen is Nyhavn especially at Christmas time when it is all festooned in white christmas lights and the edge of the canal is lined with vendors booths selling all kinds of treats to delight and warm the palette. Nyhavn is a hand dug canal that was built from 1670-1673 by the Swish king Christian V. It was built as a transport canal between the harbor and the city center to enable merchants to more easily get their cargo to market. In the 1960s and 70s the area was the cities red light district. It has since been cleaned up and is a major tourist attraction for the city. It is lined with restaurants and shops and was one of our highlights of the trip. We really enjoyed all of the decorations and sampled Glogg and Abliskivers. Lenore is holding a sample in one of the images below. We also stopped and looked at the locks of love on the famous "Lover's Bridge". God's love and blessings to all, chris All images were created with a Canon 7D mkII. #TeamCanon
