Waiting for Spring

Oh the weather outside is frightful. But, you're so... We have been getting the most unspring like weather. On Saturday we woke up to and inch and a half of snow and it has been raining on and off since then with some patches of sunlight thrown in.

Mellow Yellow

This week I have been really busy with appointments and what not and it has been difficult to get out and do any photography. Especially when the lighting is at its best. I finally managed to get out to the Burris Ranch this morning. I picked up some Yellow Gorse a.k.a. Scotch Broom along the way to use for perches. The birds were not active hardly at all as the presence of a Sharp Shin Hawk seemed to be putting a damper on the festivities. The hawk was just waiting for a chance and its' shadow passed over the feeders several times and all the birds would get really quiet and then all of a sudden disappear in a flurry of wings. So opportunities to photograph were a little slim. I worked a little more on my new water set up and then headed out.

Pine Siskin

Today I went out to the Burris Ranch to work on setting up a small water feature to photograph at. While I was there I figured I might as well put some time in at the photo blind. Here is a Pine Siskin that came to the feeders while I was there.

Not According to Plan

Today did not go as planned. I really wanted to create an image of a male American Goldfinch on a purple flower with an olive/yellow background. Yesterday there were small groups of American Goldfinches coming to the feeder like crazy. Today? Not a single one! So I photographed what God sent me. Afterwards on the way home I stopped along Berry Creek and played with the water there for awhile.

God's blessings to all,

Why Don't You Come Over Here and Say That?

Believe it or not I'm still working on the birds. Today a Lazuli Bunting came into the feeders three times and I couldn't get an image without spooking it. On my way home I spotted this cow and had to stop and take its portrait. It actually seemed pretty nice though I have come across a few cows in the past you wouldn't want to be in the pasture with. Time to run!
