Delight in the Little Things

Lenore and I headed out to the coast this weekend for a well needed trip together. We had a really nice time enjoying walking around and checking out the shops of Mendocino and the Coastal Trail in Fort Bragg. Photographically speaking it wasn't the best for grandiose seascapes as it was quite foggy at times. I could have used a wide angle lens and created a moody foggy scene but instead I selectively focused my camera on the little things. I used a telephoto lens and by keeping the horizon out of the image and narrowing my vision to some smaller subjects I was able to create some beautiful intimate images. Planes ,Trains and ????

Today was the final day of the Willits Kinetic Carnivale. I made a visit to the kinetic fly in at the local airport and the steam festival put on by "The Roots of Motive Power". The CHP, Reach and the Brooktrails Fire Department were all well represented at the airport. There was some air traffic with rides being sold on both a helicopter and a small plane. There was a lot going on. Downtown in Willits at the steam up I was told that although there were a few steam engines in operation yesterday was the big day. I still found enough subjects to keep my camera busy. It was really, really hot and I'm glad that Lenore or my Mom didn't come downtown.It was nice to come home and get out of the heat. Characters at the Kinetic Carnivale

This weekend was the second annual Willits Kinetic Carnivale. It is a steam punk festival complete with bands,food,merchants and a steam festival by "The Roots of Motive Power". Tonight there will be a "Grand Ball". Tomorrow is an airport day and kinetic fly in at the local airport. Today I focused on taking portraits of the participants. If you are a people watcher this was the place to be! There were some amazing outfits. Just incredible what some people came up with to wear. Lenore and I had a wonderful time and we didn't even hit the steam up by the Roots of Motive Power. Hopefully I can do that and the kinetic fly in tomorrow. God's precious love to all, chris
