Loving Those Layers

Living on a ridge top has a number of advantages. One of those being that I get to see a lot of beautiful sunrises and sunsets. One of the others is getting to see all the layers of ridges going off into the horizon. Last nights sunset gave me ample opportunities to see and photograph both a gorgeous sunset and some pretty cool layering going out to the horizon on the fog covered Pacific.God's almighty paintbrush at work! Chasing the Ridgetop Light

There is just something about sunrises and sunsets. To me they are gorgeous examples of God's handiwork. No two are ever alike. They are a challenge and fun to photograph. Yesterday and this morning we had clouds which aren't common in summertime in California near the coast. As a consequence we were treated to a wonderful sunset and this morning a sunrise. Last night I didn't know where to turn next as the light kept changing. I kept moving around trying to find the best spot. God's love and blessings to all, chris

The Fog Has Returned

Today I awoke to a beautiful sunny day. By the time I finished breakfast that all changed with the arrival of the fog off of the ocean. We live on a ridgetop roughly eighteen miles inland from the coast. Which in simple terms means that we sometimes get fog also called the "Marine Layer". When we first moved here it was almost a daily event during the summertime. Now it seems to come in less and less. This summer it has only been foggy about ten times or so. It's funny that the fog just comes in just far enough to cover our ridgetop. I can get out of the fog into the sunshine by just heading a hundred yards to the east. Simply amazing!



I went for a short photo hike down the ridge earlier but since then I've been being domestic by doing the recycling and putting together some storage cabinets for my office.
