Goldfish Illustrated

I scanned some goldfish from my pond this morning. I added some aquarium gravel behind the from my texture files. It's more of an illustration than a photographic image as the blue from the original background shows through their fins.

Locals

The family helped me move the remmnants of the wood pile in preparation for a new load of wood for next winter. In the process we found a few of the locals hiding under some of the logs. I stuck them in a jar and this morning Annika worked as the scorpion wrangler while I photographed them. It's so much easier having a second person when you are doing this. Those little suckers can move pretty fast when they want to. After she left I lost one under my desk. I had to dig 'em out of there so I wouldn't get stung on the foot while I'm working at my computer. Yikes!

Do You Remember...

I am a sucker for old found negatives. I love it when I find an old negative because it's like a present. You never know what you will find when it comes up on the scanner. Sure you have an idea of what it is but you can't see the details until the image comes up. I guess it's sort of like working in the darkroom printing B+W prints. it's like magic when the image starts to come up in the developer.

Today when I was sorting the recycling I came across this old negative at the bottom of the recyclng container. How it got there one has to really wonder. It was all covered in sticky gunk and whatnot. I decided not to clean it up and I put it on the scanner as found. In the strip there was this image of my son Jay when he was a little boy. Obviously I really like it because it's my son.He waspretty cute.

Hitchiker

While gardening this morning Lenore picked up this hitchiker. When she was washing her hands she saw it on her neck in the mirror. It jumped off her neck and landed in the sink. I captured it and created a few images of it before I released it onto one of our roses in the backyard.

Valley View

I never tire of our ever changing view of the Little Lake Valley from our mountain perch. This morning when I woke up the valley was covered in a thin layer of fog. There wasn't a cloud in the sky and it was all very serene. I took several images of the whole overal scene and then moved in for some more intimate compositions. It made for a beautiful start to today.

A Lazy Day or the Runner in the Fog

Today was a no photography day. We just lazed around the house in the morning and in the late afternoon we did some housework. Later on we BBQ'd some chicken, sausages and squash. With today's images I'm going to go in the opposite direction of a lazy day and post some slightly more energetic pictures of Lenore running yesterday in the fog. There are two images and I can't decide which one I like better. What do you think?
