Lovely Layers

One of things I am always attracted to and love to photograph is the ridges of layers between where I live and the Mendocino Coast. Using a telephoto lens creates a compressed, intimate and beautiful landscape. The past two evenings have been just gorgeous due to the smoke from the Lodge Lightning Complex fire north of where I live. Cookies and an Incredible Sunrise Too!

This morning the dogs awoke me way too early. I dragged myself from my warm cozy bed and left Lenore sleeping to put them out. Standing there in the dark and cold while they went my mind cleared and I was up and alert. I couldn't go back to bed now! When I went back into the house and whipped up a batch of chocolate chip cookies. Just about the time the cookies needed to come out of the oven a beautiful sunrise appeared that just got better and better. May you have a blessed day, chris

Still Loving the Layers

I woke up late this morning just a little before nine. Wake up sleepy head! I'm glad that I didn't sleep in too much later because the clouds and mountain layers were just beautiful due to the smoke and fog. In particular I loved a ridge down in the valley below that was topped with trees and fog. Later I had a quick breakfast and then I played around with a macro set up. That didn't go as well as planned and I'm going to try it again later. Have a blessed day, chris

I Opened Up My Little Eye

This morning when I popped out of bed this is the sight that greeted me from our bedroom window. We have been experiencing our first winters storm over the past few days and here was a short break in the storm. The view is to the east of where I live over the Mendocino Mountain Range.I love all the layers and banks of puffy clouds. God's light and love to all, chris

Photoshop Fun

I'm not a big Photoshop kind of guy but every once in awhile I get the bug and I like to get creative and have some fun. I found this old Yugoslavian bill when I was cleaning up in the office a few days ago and I thought what can I do with this? It sat around by my keyboard for a few days and then it hit me today. I'll replace the welders face with Annikas. I took Annika outside and photographed her face in a similar position and layered it in. She complained that it makes her look too manly. The wleder would probably say that it makes him too feminine. I'll let them argue it out. I think it looks pretty cool.

Coastal Farmhouse

Today I spent some time playing with textures. I have a large collection of textures that I continually add to. When I was with Lenore on the coast Friday and Saturday I found quite a few. There is a lot of weather beaten buildings along the coast due to the fog and the salt in the air. This is an image of an old farmhouse created about a week ago of an old farmhouse up by the small coastal town of Westport. I overlayed it with the texture of a weathered white siding on an old shed in Fort Bragg. I like the sensation of waves that it creates.
