Back to the Woodpile

It seems like when ever I stack wood or get wood from the woodpile I almost always find something there to photograph. Today when I was filling the wood box in preparation for the incoming storm I found a whole nest of Bark Beetles. Bark beetles don't really have nests. Let's just say there was a whole bunch in one spot. There was one big one that was almost double the size of the others that I just had to photograph. I set it aside and made some images of it this afternoon.

Symbol of Success

Yesterday we were at an Academic Decathalon competiton for Jay's high school team in Kelsyville,Ca. One of the team members Aaron Ramirez did really well in the competition. He won four medals for his academic prowess including one for the highest score of any student in the competition. After the competition I photographed all his medals hanging from his neck. Truly symbolic of his success.

Gotta Love Those feet

Today we drove to Kelseyville, Lake County in Northern California for an Academic Decathalon that my son Jay's high school team was competing in. The weather was just superb. There is plenty of free time at one of these competitions so Lenore and I wandered around the lake enjoying the sunshine. At one point we found an American Coot standing in the clear water with those signature feet showing.I couldn't resist a capture of that. So here it is.

Artifact from a Vanished Culture

Last week while driving around photographing I stopped to create a picture. I looked down at my feet to find a grinding stone. Grinding stones were used by Native American tribes particularly in California to grind acorns into meal. Most likely it is of Pomo origin as there were many tribes in Mendocino County where I live. It's really neat to think of the hands that labored long ago grinding acorns with this stone. In fact I know native Pomo that I'm going to give this to as they will really appreciate it.

An Apple A Day

Worked out this morning at the gym. When I got home I noticed that Lenore had containerized the apples that I use to make my green drinks.I was standing by the window at the time and I thought. Hmmn... that would make an interesting stock image. Before you knew it I had reflectors and a tripod and I was playing around with the apples.

God's precious light and love to all,

The Addiction Continues

I just love patterns. I suppose that is what so easily draws me to photograph water and oil. The results are intriguing and beautiful. This evening I created and photographed sixteen images that were really cool to look at. Here are just a few.

A Flora Kind of Day

We haven't been exactly blessed with much sunshine today here on the ridgetop. The sun has made a few feeble attempts to break through but it has been mostly fog and clouds with some drizzle for a gray day. A perfect time to play with flowers from a bouquet I gave Lenore for her birthday today. Happy Birthday Sweetie!

God's love and blessings to all,
