Squirrel Outside My Window

I awoke to a cloudy gray day this morning. When I got up I looked out to see a squirrel outside my window. It was a little Douglas Tree Squirrel visiting the stump feeder in our backyard. I ran upstairs and grabbed my camera. I went back down and got down on my knees beside the window. I ever so slowly opened the window. Then I very carefully poked out my telephoto lens and braced it against the window sill. The squirrel nervously scampered down to the bottom of the stump and then cautiously returned. It remained there watching me as it fed. I photographed it for a little while and then left it to eat in peace. Here are three images that I really liked. No Doubt It's an Inside Day

Today the weather has gone from breaks of sunshine to wind, hail and snow. Here is a view over the Little Lake Valley to the cloud covered Mendocino Mountain Range. It is most definitely an inside day to sit by the fire and read a book which is what I'm going to do next. May you have a blessed day, chris. Into the Forest

Yesterday the clouds and fog covered the ridgetop all day. Luckily there was a short break in the clouds at around four-thirty. It didn't clear enough to see the sunset but it did allow this beautiful diffused light to fill the forest. I was immediately drawn into seeing the repeating pattern of the tree trunks. I grabbed my camera and went out into the forest and photographed them. It was so refreshing to be out and about in the outdoors. Fly Tying

Today the sun made its appearance for a brief time before the gray closed in again. It was time for some indoor stock photography again. I stuck with the fly fishing theme and did some fly tying images.

A Portrait of Dreary

I spent the day by first going to church and then Lenore and I decided to go to the big city of Ukiah for some shopping. The day was full of beautiful sunshine and the temps were floating around 65 degrees. It was easy to see that winter and spring are fighting it out and on this particular day spring is winning.

Heading home we could see that our ridge top was shrouded in fog. The further we climbed toward home the colder it got. By the time we pulled into the driveway it was about 50 degrees. The wind and fog were blowing in and it was downright cold. I thought briefly of photography as entered the front door but that brief thought was quickly washed away by thoughts of food.

After a late lunch I went upstairs to use the facilities (you know the bathroom) as I looked out the window it hit me. Here was the very picture of dreary I have been trying to get an image of. I quickly grabbed my tripod and used an F stop of F29 so I would have enough depth of field to have the drops of water on the window as well as the trees in the background.

I think that I have an excellent portrayal of dreary. I hope that you agree.
