Milky Way Rising Above the Redwoods

Last night just before midnight I hatched a plan in my mind to photograph a dandelion in front of the Milky Way. The plan wasn't successful though after a bit of thought I figured out what I need to do to correct the error of my ways. Now that is almost an impossible with out divine intervention. Thank you Lord for providing it. Now back to where I was. I didn't succeed in photographing the dandelion but I did get a nice image of the Milky Way rising up over the redwoods. Camera Settings used- Manual Mode, ISO 3200, F4.5 at 30 seconds, 2 second timer delay.

Overflight of the International Space Station (ISS)

Last night the ISS made a pass directly over my house. It's so cool to watch soar across the heavens. I always find it hard for me to believe that there are people on board! What an amazing view of earth they have. God's love and protection to all, chris

Morning Stars

This morning when I woke up the stars were still shining brightly and there was a faint light on the horizon from the upcoming rising sun. I went into my office and grabbed my camera. I attached a wide angle lens and went back to our bedroom and photographed the mornings stars rising to the east of us over the Mendocino Mountain Range. That's the Little Lake Valley in the lower right corner of the image. You can see a few lights from some of the ranches there. I made quite a few images but this is the one that I liked the best. God reveals some of his majesty to us through the heavens and all his creation. Wishing you a blessed day, chris

Part of the Milky Way

Continuing on with the night skies. Last night Annika and I were out photographing the night skies. This morning I spent quite a bit of time going through the images. My favorite image is the leading edge of the Milky Way setting into the forest. I just love it. It was one of the last ones we took before the moon rose too high in the sky making it difficult to photograph stars.

Shooting Star

Tonight Annika and I sat out on the deck and took pictures of star trails before the moon rose. We heard coyotes on the hunt howling off in the distance and an owl hooting. it was really nice out. An incredible evening under the stars.
