Last Flower in the Vase

Late last night I awoke to the patter of rain on the roof top. This morning it was still going strong. It's such a lovely sound! A good day for indoor projects. When I came downstairs the vase on the book shelf had one last flower that was still standing upright. Perfect subject for an indoor day! I grabbed my camera, macro lens, tripod and an LED work light. I photographed the flower head with the light off to the left side of the blossom. Simple flower for a rainy day. God's precious love to all, chris Photographed with a Canon 7D mkII and a 100mm macro lens. Supported with a Manfrotto 055XPROB tripod and a Bogen 3055 heavy duty ballhead. The camera settings used were AV mode, ISO 800, F 10.0 at 1/40th of a sec.

RED!

As you can see I'm still in flower mode. This morning when I got up I noticed that the flowers Lenore had placed on the table had a beautiful red one mixed in amongst them. It didn't take me long to grab my camera,macro lens, black background, white reflector and a single studio light with a snoot on it. Within a few minutes I had it set up and I was working over that poor little flower. When processing the images just after midnight this one was my favorite of the bunch. Flower on the Table

This afternoon I had the desire to photograph one of the Chrysanthemums on our table. It wasn't until this evening that I got around to it. A simple image. Here is flower on the table. God bless, chris

In Another Place and Time

This morning I noticed that the first crop of Dandelions is well under way. Many have bloomed their brilliant yellow blossoms and gone to seed for the people willing to pluck them and blow off the seed heads to make wishes. This evening I photographed one in blue. Sticking With the Rose Theme for Today

We awoke to a dusting of snow this morning. With that in mind I couldn't wait to see what Lenore's roses looked like. I quickly grabbed my tripod and camera. Then I went out and spent a good time photographing them. Here are some of my favorite images of them. God's light and love, chris

Love is a Rose

Right now the majority of the Northern Hemisphere is in the grips of winter.The Southern Hemisphere is enjoying the summer. Outside my window right now it is cold and rainy so you can probably guess which half of the earth I'm on.I'm still amazed to see that one of Lenore's rose bushes in the backyard is blooming again. It had five blossoms until I picked one to bring inside to photograph it. A perfect day for some indoor flower photography to brighten my spirits.Even if I do have only one flower to photograph! Simple Flower

Today's image is more symbolic than anything. You plant a seed in a warm, moist, sheltered environment and you encourage it to grow. Little by little with your help and prayers it begins to sprout and grow. You give it water, nourishment, sunshine and hope. It begins to spread out and get taller. Soon you realize it is too big to be indoors anymore. You must replant it outside where it has more room to take root,grow and finally bloom all on it's own. This week was a lot like that as we dropped off our son Jay for his first year at college. It is now his time to grow and bloom all on his own.

Little Red Flower

This morning I photographed a flower from the vase on the dining room table. I loved the intense red colors. I thought it would look good on a green background. I created two versions one with a textured background and the other one plain.

Baker's Meadowfoam A Rare and Endangered Plant Species

Today I photographed some Baker's Meadowfoam (Limnanthes bakeri). A rare and endangered plant endemic to Mendocino County, California. Currently this plant is a hot potato for the ranchers in the Little Lake Valley and Cal Trans which is planning on building a highway through the valley and has to mitigate the wetlands it will destroy in the process with other pastureland in the valley. It will be interesting to see how this all falls out in the end.

Playing With Glass Again

Some of you may have noticed that I really like unusual pieces of glass. Saturday when Lenore and I were at the recycling center I came across a cool vase that Annika (why is it always Annika) was tossing away. I immediately grabbed it so I could photograph it today and this is the result.

Non Photo Days

The past few days have been non photo days. The vast majority of yesterday was spent dealing with computer issues. I'm donating one of my old computers to Lenore's class room and I had a bunch of photos backed up on it from Bora Bora that I needed to transfer to a back up hard drive. The problem was that my computer wouldn't recognize the drive on the old computer. A lot of time was wasted doing a work around to get the images all transferred. When I finally finished I spent some time cleaning my office which has been a bit neglected and needed some attention.









Today was spent ferrying children to and fro and doing a doctor visit to the dermo to have too much sun in my past burned off of my face. Ouch! When picking up Annika in the afternoon from her "Rock Camp" I saw a pretty cool yellow flower in front of a nearby house and I created a quick image of by adding some texture to it from another image.
